⚙ A Tiny Galaxy of Gears in the Palm of Your Hand
It all starts with a little movement. One gear turns the next, bringing the whole mechanism to life—like a tiny team where every piece plays its part.
This circular gear fidget puts the mechanics on display, with a central gear surrounded by smaller ones. Its charm lies in the simple pleasure of watching motion travel from tooth to tooth.
A little project for curious hands, mechanical minds, and those moments when you need a break between ideas. 🌀
If you print one, share a Make! I’d love to see the colors you choose.
Key Print Settings
- Layer height: 0.16 mm
- Wall generator: Arachne
- X-Y contour compensation: −0.05 mm
- Elephant foot compensation: 0.20 mm
- Outer wall speed: 80 mm/s
Once printing is complete, let the fidget cool for at least 10 minutes before removing it from the build plate or trying to move the gears. Be gentle when first working the mechanism free.
A little tip from my own testing: Out of curiosity, I added a single drop of fine-mechanism oil, and mine runs much more smoothly! This is optional; if you try it, use oil compatible with your printed plastic.
